CEX: X Layer has completed the PP upgrade and launched the OKB Gas Token economic model optimization.
On August 13, according to official news, CEX has decided to conduct a strategic upgrade of X Layer, transforming it into a leading public chain focused on DeFi, payment, and RWA scenarios. X Layer is built based on Polygon CDK and completed the "PP upgrade" on August 5, 2025, with network throughput increased to 5000 TPS, Gas costs reduced to nearly zero, and enhanced security and compatibility with the Ethereum mainnet. The upgrade will also advance ecological construction, focusing on DeFi, global payments, and RWA issuance and circulation, accelerating application landing through ecological funds, liquidity incentives, and infrastructure improvements. CEX Wallet, CEX Exchange, and CEX Pay have fully integrated with X Layer, providing 0 Gas rapid withdrawal and an efficient on-chain payment experience. This upgrade is also accompanied by an optimization of the OKB Gas Token economic model, with OKB continuing to serve as the sole Gas and native token of X Layer. CEX will permanently destroy 65,256,712.097 OKB from historical buybacks and reserves, and upon completion will upgrade the OKB smart contracts to remove the additional issuance and manual destruction functions, fixing the total issuance at 21 million coins. Users holding Ethereum L1 version OKB need to deposit their assets to CEX and complete the chain swap via "Withdraw to X Layer." Meanwhile, OKTChain will be phased out, with trading on CEX ceasing from 14:10 (UTC+8) on August 13, 2025, and OKT will be periodically exchanged for equivalent OKB at the average closing price from July 13 to August 12, 2025. On-chain OKT exchanges will be supported until January 1, 2026.
