On May 13, the dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major currencies, rose 1.45% on the day to close at 101.788 at the end of the foreign exchange market. At the end of trading in New York, the euro was worth $1.1089, down from $1.1259 in the previous session, and the pound was worth $1.3180, down from $1.3315 in the previous session. The U.S. dollar was worth 148.34 yen, up from 145.27 yen in the previous session, the U.S. dollar was worth 0.8457 Swiss francs, up from 0.8311 Swiss francs in the previous session, the U.S. dollar was worth 1.3994 Canadian dollars, up from 1.3930 Canadian dollars in the previous session, and the U.S. dollar was worth 9.8166 Swedish kronor, up from 9.7062 Swedish kronor the previous day.
