Zelensky expressed willingness to sign a peace memorandum with Russia in front of the U.S.
According to Jinse Finance, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated during a briefing after a phone call with U.S. President Trump on the 19th that he emphasized three key demands during their first conversation that day: a ceasefire must be achieved, sanctions against Russia must be implemented, and the U.S. "should not make any decisions regarding matters related to Ukraine without Ukraine's involvement." Zelensky noted that Russia and Ukraine could, as Russian President Putin suggested, first sign a memorandum and then sign a protocol to end the full-scale conflict. At the same time, Zelensky pointed out that the specific content of the memorandum proposed by Russia is currently unclear. He stated that from Ukraine's perspective, after receiving Russia's suggestions on the memorandum, Ukraine would be able to determine its own position.
