Golden Ten Data on September 16, France EU Internal Market Executive Commissioner Thierry Breton announced his resignation on Monday and posted a photo of the resignation letter to European Commission President von der Leyen on social platform X. Mr. Breton said in the letter that von der Leyen had asked France to remove him from the European Commission's list of candidates "for personal reasons" in exchange for giving France more influence on the Commission. Breton noted that these recent developments provide further evidence of management problems, and he has decided to resign. Following the EU elections this summer, von der Leyen is currently finalising the European Commission's roster. Each EU member state will have a seat on the Executive Board, but its political weight and importance will vary.
