Here’s Why a BlackRock XRP ETF Filing Could Be Imminent After Ripple’s Latest Move

Abstract generation in progress

Once again, everyone in the XRP community is talking and this time it’s all about BlackRock. Ripple just announced the speaker lineup for its Swell conference on November 4–5, and one name instantly grabbed attention: Maxwell Stein, BlackRock’s Director of Digital Assets

His appearance at Ripple’s biggest event of the year has fueled talk that a BlackRock XRP spot ETF might finally be on the way.

Digital asset researcher Anderson was one of the first to jump on this news. He posted on X, saying it looks like a BlackRock XRP ETF “is getting close.”

That feeling comes from the fact that BlackRock is already a heavyweight in crypto ETFs with its Bitcoin and Ethereum products. Expanding into XRP would be a natural move if the firm wants to dominate beyond the top two tokens.

Nate Geraci, president of NovaDius Wealth Management, agrees that BlackRock is unlikely to ignore XRP for long. He noted that while some at the company are reportedly more bullish on Ethereum and even skeptical of XRP, business often wins out over personal opinions

If BlackRock doesn’t expand its offerings, it risks leaving the door open for competitors and signaling to investors that only Bitcoin and Ethereum matter, something Geraci doubts the firm believes.

The timing makes this speculation even stronger. Since October 2024, more than ten asset managers, including Franklin Templeton, CoinShares, and 21Shares, have filed with the SEC to launch spot XRP ETFs

But BlackRock so far has been silent, likely out of trepidation regarding the SEC’s lawsuit of Ripple. But now that both the SEC and Ripple have dismissed their appeals, that cloud has lifted at last.

So what does it mean? BlackRock hasn’t yet done anything, but for one of its highest-level crypto execs to speak to Ripple’s marquee event is about as much an indicator of interest as can be.

With the regulatory roadblocks gone and competitors already making moves, the stage is set. Many in the community believe an XRP ETF filing from BlackRock could come sooner than most expect, and Ripple’s latest move has only added fuel to that fire.
