US Department of Justice Shut Down Cryptocurrency After Trump! - Coin Bulletin
U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has decided to close the (DOJ) cryptocurrency litigation unit of the Department of Justice in line with a more friendly roadmap for digital assets.
Todd Blanche, known as Trump’s defense attorney in 2024, called for the closure of a special unit of the Department of Justice focused on cryptocurrency cases in a memo he published. This move draws attention as an indication that the U.S. government plans to adopt a more flexible and friendly approach towards digital assets.
Blanche stated that the previous administration, led by former President Joe Biden, implemented misguided strategies aimed at controlling the blockchain industry. She expressed that this strategy attempted to regulate the crypto sector by pressuring the Department of Justice. While Blanche emphasized that this approach is no longer valid, she called for a greater focus on individual criminals.
Trump's approach, known for his support of digital assets, stands out as one of the main reasons for this change. Trump had promised during his presidential campaign to make the US a hub for digital assets.
In March of this year, he issued a presidential decree instructing the creation of a Bitcoin reserve and requested the development of clear rules for digital assets. These regulations will particularly allow for legal steps to be taken regarding stablecoins.
