The May Tradition in Bitcoin is Breaking: Analysts Say Don't Sell This Time! - Coin Bulletin
Analysts argue that contrary to the traditional market's famous saying "sell in May and go away," Bitcoin (BTC) investors should adopt a "hold and stay in May" strategy this year.
The phrase "sell in May and go away" commonly used in the cryptocurrency market for the month of May is known to be a habit inherited from traditional financial markets. In markets like the S&P 500, the May-October period is generally associated with lower returns and higher volatility compared to the November-April period. However, K33 analysts indicate that the current market conditions for Bitcoin will be different this year.
K33 research director Vetle Lunde and senior analyst David Zimmerman believe that significant catalysts stemming from Donald Trump will have positive effects on Bitcoin during the summer months. Factors such as the Trump administration accelerating regulations on crypto markets and plans to create a Bitcoin reserve are expected to positively impact the Bitcoin price.
Trump's Bitcoin Moves
The US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, established by the decree signed by Trump in March, consists of approximately 200,000 Bitcoins held by the federal government. Additionally, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick have been instructed to develop budget-neutral strategies for acquiring more Bitcoins without imposing additional costs on American taxpayers. However, the delay in the expected reports and announcements on this matter is creating uncertainty in the markets.
On the other hand, New Hampshire became the first state to adopt the "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" law, and it is known that states like Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, and Texas are also working on similar regulations. These state-based initiatives also emerge as factors supporting the strength of Bitcoin.
Risky Periods in the Summer
K33 analysts state that Trump's trade tariffs will come back into focus in mid-summer and that this situation could reduce risk appetite in the overall markets. However, Bitcoin's resilience against market fluctuations in April is seen by analysts as a sign that the cryptocurrency will also remain strong during the summer months.
