Bitcoin Rise Price, Criminals Lurking: Binance Launches 5-Pronged Defense Plan
As physical threats increase alongside the bullish trend of bitcoin, Binance has sounded the alarm with a robust five-pronged defense plan aimed at protecting cryptocurrency holders worldwide. Binance Reveals 5-Step Action Plan When Cryptocurrency-Related Attacks Surge The cryptocurrency exchange Binance issued a safety advisory on May 27, warning the cryptocurrency community about the growing threat extending beyond the digital realm. Binance's Physical Security team reported that as the price of bitcoin rises and adoption increases, the risk of physical attacks targeting individuals involved in cryptocurrency also rises. Although still relatively rare, these incidents are becoming more frequent and have prompted Binance to call for both caution and preparedness among users. Binance declares: Our data shows that the number of publicly reported physical attacks on cryptocurrency users has increased since 2021, with BTC prices closely correlating with such incidents. "As the digital defense measures of the industry become stronger, criminals are increasingly turning to real-world tactics," the cryptocurrency exchange added. The consultation points out specific data trends: "In 2019, there was only one recorded incident, while 15 kidnappings were reported in the first five months of 2025. These figures are still small compared to the total number of kidnappings globally, which varies significantly between estimates but is measured in the tens of thousands each year." Although the number is relatively low, Binance emphasizes that anyone operating in the cryptocurrency space needs to raise awareness and take precautions, especially those who are in contact with the public or are believed to have access to large amounts of digital assets. To help reduce the risk of real-world attacks on cryptocurrency holders, Binance has recommended five key focus areas with immediate action steps. First, users should limit their online exposure by not publicly disclosing their involvement in cryptocurrency, avoiding the sharing of wallet screenshots or transaction history, and using pseudonyms for blockchain activities to maintain anonymity. Secondly, they should enhance privacy settings on social media by setting accounts to private, deleting geolocation data from posts, and delaying the sharing of travel plans or locations until after returning, which can help prevent attackers from tracking their movements. Thirdly, conceal wallet ownership by using privacy-protecting wallets, rotating addresses to prevent long-term transaction links, and avoiding any connections between your real identity and blockchain activity. Wednesday, maintain situational awareness by altering your travel habits, being discreet at cryptocurrency events, and conducting physical security audits at your residence or workplace. On Thursday, establish emergency backup plans, such as setting up crisis protocols with trusted contacts, using multi-signature wallets or hardware security modules to counter coercion, and knowing how and when to contact authorities or professional security teams if a threat arises. These combined strategies provide a solid foundation for protecting both individuals and assets in a high-risk environment. The exchange's message combines certain warnings with practical recommendations. Binance states: Criminals often look for careless mistakes online, observing behaviors and exploiting the weak moments of potential victims.
