Unichain received 16.1 million USD from Uniswap DAO, supporting cross-chain transfers under 2 seconds.
Unichain, a Layer 2 of the Ethereum Superchain system, uses the new superchainERC20 standard to enable asset transfers between L2s such as Base and OP Mainnet in less than 2 seconds, improving DeFi trading conditions on Uniswap with over 1 billion USD in deposits.
Uniswap DAO has allocated 16.1 million USD in the form of UNI rewards over 2 months to increase trading volume. However, the profitability effectiveness is still unclear, as Base – a Layer 2 on the same network – has garnered 140 million USD since its launch without requiring similar incentives.
Although the diagram illustrates the interaction between multiple chains, some opinions suggest that the mechanism of Superchain remains centralized, such as "this computer talks to that computer through a third computer."
