Many football stars have been named in a $3.4 million cryptocurrency scam.

Six famous soccer players, including World Cup winners and former Barcelona stars, are being accused of fraud related to a cryptocurrency company that has disappeared with millions of dollars from investors. Barcelona's Fifth District Court has opened an investigation into an NFT scheme backed by a group of Spanish and Argentine businessmen, with promotional support from the players.

The lawsuit alleges that Shirtum Europa SLU defrauded at least $3.4 million through the sale of non-functional NFTs. Players such as "Papu" Gómez and Lucas Ocampos are among those named. The company used their reputation to build credibility but is accused of abandoning the platform and withdrawing funds for personal purposes.
