According to Wu, the U.S. Department of Justice website reports that a woman from Arizona has been sentenced to 102 months (about 8 and a half years) in prison for assisting North Korean IT workers in impersonating U.S. identification to obtain remote positions at over 300 American companies. This fraudulent activity has generated more than 17 million dollars in profits for herself and the North Korean regime. According to court documents, this case is one of the largest remote employment fraud cases involving North Korean IT workers that the U.S. Department of Justice has investigated to date.
